To Our Kennybrook Family,
There are some letters you never imagine having to write. This is one of them.
After 61 summers, our family has made the extraordinary difficult decision to bring Camp Kennybrook to a close. Even writing those words feels almost impossible.
For many of us, Kennybrook felt permanent – simply there, summer after summer and generation after generation. Children grew up here and returned as counselors. Campers became parents and sent their own children. Friendships that begin in bunks became lifelong relationships, and for our family, there has quite literally never been a world without Kennybrook.
What began with our family 61 years ago because something much larger than any one family could own. Kennybrook became a community of campers, parents, staff members, alumni and friends who brought it to life and carried pieces of with it them.
At the end of August, after the 2026 camp season had come to a close, an unexpected opportunity arose for our family to sell the camp property. It was not something we had been pursuing or planning. After a great deal of thought and conversation, we decided to accept it. We believe it is the right decision for our family, but that does not make it easy.
For our current campers, Kennybrook is not something from the past. It is their camp – their bunk, their friends, their traditions – a part of childhood they expected to find waiting for them next summer.
For our families, we know you trusted us not only with your children, but with their summers and with a place that became deeply important to them.
And for our alumni, even if you have not walked these grounds in many years, Kennybrook has remained a part of your history and your lives.
Kennybrook was never just a summer camp. Wherever life takes you, we hope the memories, friendships, confidence, independence, and sense of belonging you found at Kennybrook remain with you for years to come. You will always be part of the Kennybrook family.
We want to thank our entire Kennybrook community for decades of trust, love, and memories. Kennybrook became what it was because of all of you. Thousands of people can trace friendships, turning point, marriages, families and some of the happiest days of their lives back to this place in Catskills. Very few places get to matter to so many people for so long.
We are deeply proud of what Kennybrook became and humbled by how deeply it has been loved. Kennybrook shaped our family and our lives, and saying goodbye is something we are only beginning to understand.
What an extraordinary legacy for one place to leave behind.
