Our staff and counselors are hired selectively to be role models and friends, showering campers with individual attention and ensuring they have a nurturing and kind experience. Nestled in the Catskill Mountains, 90 minutes north of New York City, we are a family owned, family run, co-ed, overnight camp where literally everyone knows everybody.

First-Time Campers 

We know that sending your child to sleepaway camp for the first time can feel unfamiliar and even a little scary, but don’t worry! At Kennybrook we go above and beyond to help the entire family get acclimated to this new experience – even before the summer starts.

During the off-season, our directors are available to make individual home visits to new families. These 1-on-1 visits are a great way for the entire family to learn more about the Kennybrook experience in a comfortable setting. Additionally, in early June, we host a New Camper Day up at camp for all first-time campers and their families. New campers can meet other first-timers and some of our staff, tour campus, and enjoy a delicious BBQ lunch at their new summer home! 

As parents ourselves, we know how important it is to be in-the-know when it comes to your children. That’s why open and honest communication is a key aspect of our camp philosophy. All parents of first-time campers will be personally contacted by our directors within the first 72 hours of camp to discuss how their children are adjusting to camp. Throughout the summer, we’re never more than a phone call or email away. Our directors are always available to speak to parents and answer any questions that come up. We know that attending sleepaway camp for the first time is a big transition, and we want you to be 100% confident that your child is having the best summer ever!

Through our “all for one” approach to camping and our dedicated counselors and leadership team, first-time campers integrate wonderfully into our camp family and we ensure that the transition is as smooth as possible.

Programs & Activities 

Camp Kennybrook offers an array of activities, including private lessons, that target the specific skills and interests of our campers. As a family-run camp, we are able to focus on each camper’s interests individually while offering a wide variety of activity options.

Your child will engage in a specialized program created for them by our caring staff and designed for their abilities and interests. Each camper participates in a wide range of exciting opportunities including athletics, waterfront, performing & creative arts, STEM, and outdoor adventure, in addition to unique Kennybrook programs.

Through we value longstanding Kennybrook traditions, we are mindful of the different ages within our program and the need for progression and evolution as children mature. As a result, we have created specific programs catered to each age group, including our Teen Travel Adventures. Through our progressive and intentional programming, each year as your child returns to camp they can look forward to beloved Kennybrook traditions plus fresh adventures, new milestones, and increased independence.
