Assistant Director & Girls Head Counselor
Colleen is our Assistant Director and Girls Head Counselor, and has been with us for over 20 years. She’s a fun-spirited person and always brings a smile to our Kennybrook campers. She works year-round for Camp Kennybrook, and manages our winter office in Ardsley, NY. Colleen grew up in England and graduated from Durham New College. She arrived at Kennybrook in 1998, as a bunk counselor and over the years has been our Athletic Director and Associate Director. Colleen fell in love with Kennybrook many years ago, and is currently involved with all aspects of planning and implementing our programs. During the winter months, Colleen resides in Hackensack, NJ.
Boys Head Counselor
Arnie is pretty much a permanent fixture at Camp Kennybrook, with over 35 years of dedicated stellar service. His children attended Camp Kennybook and his grandchildren are now campers. Arnie is our Boys Head Counselor and has created and directed our popular Teen Travel Adventures. He also assists with planning and programming over the winter months. Arnie and his wife Wendi live in New City, NY, and he teaches at the Reuben Gittleman Day School with a Masters in Adult and Community Education.
Lisa ensures a great summer adventure for all our Kennybrook campers. For over ten years, she serves as our Program Director, and creates and implements all aspects of the daily program and special events. Lisa has had years of experience in both day and residential camp settings and has brought many new ideas and improvements to Kennybrook. Lisa also contributes over the winter months as we prepare for each summer. Her and her husband Stephen live in Commack, NY with their three boys. Lisa currently works as a teacher at The Three Village Central School District in East Setauket, NY.
Scott is our Aquatics Director and joined Kennybrook over 20 years ago. Growing up at a sleep-away camp, Scott knows what it takes to make a great summer experience. He oversees all aspects of our pool, lake and water-ski program, and offers private lessons to campers throughout the summer. Scott is a graduate of the University of Rhode Island with a degree in Physical Education. Currently, he works in Queens, NY as a Physical Education teacher and is the Dean of Students. Scott has a Master’s in Special Education and Administration. He has been a high school football, track and wrestling coach. Scott lives in East Meadow, NY with his wife Audra and their children Adam and Hannah, who are also Kennybrook staff members.
Genna Sperling serves as Kennybrook’s Athletic Director – overseeing aspects of daily activities, intercamp tournaments, and nightly leagues. With over 15 years at Kennybrook (as a camper, counselor, and now Athletic Director) Genna encompasses true camp tradition and spirit. Each summer, Genna works to ensure campers embrace Kennybrook Kindness, enthusiasm, and teamwork in order to build confidence and skills both on and off the courts/fields. Currently, Genna is a high school special education teacher in New York City and has experience coaching various sports on the varsity level.
Charlie Bridge is our Basketball Director. He’s been at Camp Kennybrook for over four years, and not only runs our basketball program, but also our “Three Point Basketball” private lessons. He works with both seasoned basketball players, as well as campers with little basketball experience. During winter months, Charlie has been the head basketball coach at SUNY Jefferson Community College in Watertown, NY for the last five years. He grew up playing basketball and played in college at Mohawk Valley Community College. Charlie has won many coaching and player awards over the past few years. His enthusiasm, organization and teaching ability have had a great impact on our young players over the past summers. Charlie is also an avid volunteer and recently went to Africa to coach basketball. He resides in Sackets Harbor, NY during the off-season.
As our Baseball Director, with over twenty years of baseball coaching experience, Teddy Craig has a true love of the game. He’s been at Camp Kennybrook for over six years, and not only runs our baseball program, but also our “Extra Inning Baseball” private lessons. Teddy mentors baseball players to develop new skills, build self confidence and gain a deeper understanding of the game. He also brings a high-tech edge, through individual video analysis on mechanics and more. During the winter months, Teddy is the head baseball coach at Ravenwood High School in Nashville, which is one of the largest high schools in TN. He played competitive college baseball at The University at Arkansas/Little Rock. Teddy, his wife Marna, who is a member of our office staff, and their three children Chad, Shane and Tyler live in Nolensville, TN during the winter months.
Group Leader and Senior Trip Director
Michele Suso has been a member of the Kennybrook family for the past 24 summers. She started out as a counselor, and has now progressed to a Group Leader and Senior Trip Director. As the Senior Trip Director, Michelle helps plan and coordinate the oldest campers Teen Travel Experience, which alternates between California and Seattle/Whistler each summer. This role is truly a passion of hers. She loves traveling, but her favorite part of this role is seeing the joy campers experience as they travel to new places with their best friends. During the year Michelle teaches Science Lab and STEAM in Aventura, FL, where she has been living for the past 16 years.
